Getting a broad and reliable perspective of the issues in this province with respect to conservation of fish species and sustainable management of fisheries is a shared responsibility. Our management decisions are made in consideration of the best available science advice and the valuable input of the fishing industries and local communities which have a stake in inshore fishery resources. As your Member of Parliament for the Avalon Riding, I am listening to what you have to say about the fishery in your area whether its management measures for various species; licensing policy issues, dockside monitoring or any other issue as raised by meeting participants. Today, I was in Shearstown to listen, and again tonight, I will be in Riverhead, St. Mary’s Bay to hear what fishharvestors, stakeholders and you have to say. Our Government recognizes the need for more face-to-face discussion with inshore commercial fishery participants and stakeholders to ensure a sustainable and viable fishery for future generations.
