Two Wharf Projects Awarded in Avalon Worth $4.8 million
Ken McDonald, MP (Avalon) is very pleased to announce the Government of Canada has awarded two significant contracts for important marine infrastructure work in Harbour Grace and Fermeuse. Over $4.8 million worth of work will be completed with funding provided through the Small Craft Harbours program.
In Fermeuse, a contract valued at $2.7 million has been awarded to RJG Construction for the construction of a new marginal wharf and finger pier.
Harbour Grace will see the addition of a new marginal wharf. Granite Management Limited has been awarded a contract valued at $2.1 million to complete the work.
“Maintaining and expanding marine infrastructure is very important for fish harvesters and other users of these facilities in the Riding of Avalon.” stated Mr. McDonald. “The new wharf in Fermeuse will provide the opportunity for future expansion in the harbour and Harbour Grace will be able to provide much needed docking space to alleviate significant congestion.”
McDonald said, “I want to thank Minister LeBlanc for his continued support of Small Craft Harbour infrastructure and I look forward to continue working with all Harbour Authorities to ensure safe and accessible harbours are available to users.”
